Internet Service Providers

Having developed their core businesses, Cable TV Providers and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are in a position to integrate new IP technologies into their networks in order to extend their portfolios with triple play (IPTV, Broadband, data, voice).

Pure internet access across all types of networks with all complementary hosting, housing, e-mail and security services is a relatively small market. The costs and consequently prices for Internet services are declining and customer churn is high due to competition.

Harnessing provisioned IP networks for delivery of voice services enables service providers to target new segments of customers, such as SME's, with complete sets of services. With high capacity IP networks in densely populated areas and with exceptional experience in marketing various offerings of TV content to specific market segments, Cable TV providers are very well positioned for offering VoIP services with guaranteed service quality. Calls are transported through a different layer than data traffic, therefore voice services do not impact data traffic and are not limited by FUP (fair user policy) related to data downloads. In order to provide voice services it is necessary to deploy a softswitch for voice switching and a BSS system to support time-based billing of services and interconnection settlement with the other voice providers. Customer premises equipment (CPE) can be equipped with gateways that enable usage of regular POTS terminals or wireless DECT phones, but the most convenient way is connecting SIP voice terminals directly to the IP network.

SITRONICS TS is in a unique position in so far as we provide ISPs and Cable TV providers with both;

  • TENNET IP based switching system
  • FORIS Ngage BSS system that includes a billing system, interconect billing and other modules to support the businesses of service providers

The TENNET switching system is a scalable solution which is built modularly in order to cater for the precise needs of the service provider. Scalability is one of the most important requirements for solutions for providers launching new services. In order to protect their investment in the future, the solution must be able to grow and adaptable to the changing needs of the provider. Offering voice services based on the public numbering plan also requires interconnection with other operators and switching systems via SS7 and SIP. The TENNET network node can be configured as a compact switching system with the integrated IP switching system, transit and signalling gateways. Extension of such a system is possible by adding more switching capacity for SIP terminals and/ or gateways for POTS or PRI lines.

Time based service billing is necessary for offering more advanced voice services and packages. FORIS Ngage offers more than just a billing system; it includes interconnect billing for settlement with other operators, a mediation system for various network nodes, a CRM system for improving customer relations, revenue assurance, selfcare and other functions for effective handling of more complex services and network environments.
